The legal bit:

According to the Construction and Use Regulations and the Road Traffic Act (Section 32) it is now illegal to tint front door windows below a light visibility of 70%. The police and 'VOSA' will use discretion with any tint measured at above 50% but being told to remove even a light tint is likely. Any tint measuring below 50% will result in a removal notice and a £30 fine. Tints below 30% will result in a fine and a removal of the vehicle off the road until the tint has been removed; please note some vehicles have even been impounded!
